Zinc oxide is an inorganic compound with the formula ZnO. As an amphoteric oxide it is a white powder insoluble in water. It is odourless, absorbs carbon dioxide and ultraviolet rays from the air, dissolves in acids and alkalis, and is insoluble in water and alcohol. It is non-flammable and non-toxic.
